Ethics and sponsorship

Who pays, what gets labelled, what we will not do, and what happens to your data. Short, because it needs no hedging.

NexTechSA takes no payment for editorial coverage. A piece appears because it is worth reading, never because a company paid for it.

Who pays

Running costs come out of the founder's pocket. Later on the plan is a newsletter sponsor and paid job listings. Neither buys a mention inside an article.

What gets labelled

Any sponsored item carries the word Sponsored at the top, in the same size as the headline. The sponsor gets no say over wording, no preview and no veto. Affiliate links, if we use them, get named as affiliate links in the same sentence.

What we refuse

No press releases rewritten as news. No vendor content under a practitioner byline. No paid reviews. No removing a published piece because a company asked.

Conflicts

Marius Yssel works in enterprise security and infrastructure. Where a piece touches a client, an employer or a supplier of his, the article says so in the first paragraph.

Corrections

Errors get fixed openly. The correction sits at the foot of the piece with the date and what changed. Nothing gets quietly edited away.

Contributors

Practitioners write in their own words, or we interview them and they approve the result before publication. Nobody pays to appear.

Privacy and cookies

Short version. We count visits only after you press Allow, and your IP address is shortened before storage. The newsletter holds your email address and nothing else. The contact form mails you straight to our own mailbox with no third party in the middle. We sell nothing and run no advertising cookies.

The full text, including who is responsible, how long we keep things and your rights under POPIA, is on the privacy and cookie notice. Records held and how to request one is in the PAIA manual.
